Keeping Shared Accounts Secure

Sarah ChenSeptember 2, 2026Updated September 17, 20261 min read

Most account lockouts on shared logins come from simultaneous access from too many distant locations at once, not from anything malicious.

Changing the recovery email or phone number on a shared account is the single most common cause of a permanent lockout — leave those alone.

If a platform sends a login verification prompt, always confirm through the account owner's process rather than guessing — a wrong answer here is what actually gets accounts flagged.
